Position Summary:


The Sales Manager’s primary responsibility is to secure the success of each salesperson, the success of the sales force and the success of your dealership in accordance with the dealership policies, state, and federal law.


Essential Functions:


  • Manage the selling opportunities, activities and responsibilities of each salesperson. Motivate, train, and lead sales staff.
  • Direct staffing, training and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.
  • Pass all product knowledge tests and maintain certification.
  • Review market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential price schedules and discount rates, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.
  • Compute and quote sales price, including tax, trade-in allowance, license fee, any discounts and requirements for financing payment of vehicle on credit.
  • Manage CSI above region, zone, and national average levels. Achieve acceptable CSI scores and survey returns as established by the Dealer Principal.
  • Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, and activity reports. Controls expenses to meet budge guidelines.
  • Recruit sales staff based on criteria agreed upon by senior management.
  • Daily monitoring of vehicle gross profit on all new & used sales, both front & back gross profit retention. Forecast objectives are strived for each day, month and year.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination with all parts & service personnel. Ensure high ethical standards. Enforce only legal and ethical selling techniques.
